Grace and Hope Lutheran, Cook and Burr, NE
Pastor Jim Helgren of Grace Lutheran in Cook, NE, and Hope Lutheran in Burr, NE, recently shared about a meaningful tradition called Star Words.
This prayer practice involves receiving a word written on a star-shaped piece of paper, chosen not by oneself, but by someone else. The word serves as a spiritual focus and guiding light for the year ahead. Often associated with Epiphany and the New Year, it symbolizes the star that led the Magi to Jesus.
Pastor Jim was deeply moved by how these simple stars sparked rich, heartfelt conversations, especially within families as people shared their words and reflected on their meanings, a sense of connection and intention grew.
Just imagine: these star words becoming part of your home, perhaps written on an altar cloth or displayed as a daily reminder of the guidance and grace they represent.
